Hello from Heroes Unbound!
Justin Tucker is the founder of Heroes Unbound, a business built from both a lifelong love of superheroes and a deep, personal understanding of what children and families need during difficult times. His vision for Heroes Unbound is rooted in his own childhood experiences and the belief that every child deserves the chance to feel supported, capable, and strong.
As a child, Justin was diagnosed with depression, ADHD, and oppositional defiant disorder. Life at home was challenging, and while his parents did everything they could, they never truly had the breaks or support that could have made a difference. Looking back, Justin knows that the services he now provides through Heroes Unbound are the very ones that might have changed the course of his own childhood.
In his teenage years, Justin entered foster care. It was during this time that an experience shaped not only his future but the lives of others as well. Two young brothers, ages ten and seven, arrived at the same foster home where he was living. They were malnourished, struggling, and unable to read. Justin, at just sixteen, discovered a way to reach them through something he already loved... superheroes. With stacks of comic books, coloring books, and children’s stories, he began teaching the boys their ABCs. What started as a way to connect with them quickly became a mission. Over the course of that summer, the boys learned to read, opening doors to opportunities they had never imagined. For Justin, it was a transformative moment. He realized that with patience, creativity, and care, one person could give a child the tools to build a better future.
That summer planted a seed that grew into a lifelong passion for helping children who struggle. Years later, Justin turned that passion into action. When he began thinking about how to best serve kids in his community, he chose to focus on the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) program, a state service designed to help children with disabilities and their families. Justin recognized that while many providers also serve adults, this often creates scheduling conflicts. Adults can receive services throughout the day, while kids are in school during those hours. That means the limited after-school and weekend availability that children need most can easily be filled by adult programming instead. By concentrating solely on kids and caregivers with matching schedules, Justin ensured that the children he serves would not be left behind.
Through Heroes Unbound, Justin has built a business that connects families with caregivers who can step in during those critical hours—after school, evenings, and weekends, when kids are available and families need the most support. This intentional focus allows him to provide consistency and care without competing demands from adult services.
For Justin, Heroes Unbound is more than a business. It is the culmination of his own journey, his hardships, and the lessons he has carried with him since childhood. It is a mission to ensure that kids who are struggling are given the support they deserve, and that parents are given the relief they need. Most of all, it is a commitment to help children feel like heroes in their own stories.
